Ribbon Décor Rental

Ribbon has recently launched a very exciting venture! Since launching Ribbon Stationery, I have been collecting unique décor items to rent out for weddings and celebrations. My range has finally reached a point where I was able to put together a catalogue with a variety of items for clients to choose from.

Ribbon Décor Rental aims to stock unique and interesting decor items that are not available elsewhere and keep with the latest trends in wedding and celebration décor. The catalogue includes ranges of different materials such as wood, glass, metal and ceramic.

Some items are available in large quantities, others are vintage or unique items that are limited to a specific quantity. Please email us if you would like a catalogue emailed to you that includes quantities and product dimensions.

Wedding Invitations : Bunting Bliss

One of my most enjoyable creations for the year so far has been these wedding invitations. Abi and Gary are living in the UK but are getting married in their home country, South Africa at the lovely Imperfect Perfection in Pretoria. Abi plans to have a lovely casual styled wedding with a bit of a garden party theme – bunting, baskets, bales of hay; everything that make for a cosy, personal and light-hearted atmosphere.

I was so excited when Abi mentioned that she liked the white on brown paper look. It’s a trend that I love so was keen to have my own hand at creating it. The white design embossed into the rich textured brown paper, coupled with the pastel colours and watercolour look made for a refreshing invitation design.

The invitation card came with a personalised matching envelope and two double-sided information cards, all custom designed to make a matching set that represents Abi’s style and wedding colours.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Lauren and Kyle : Mosaic Merriment

I’ve never been quite as excited as I am to post this feature today. Lauren and Kyle Tee got married over the long weekend in September and Ribbon was fortunate to not only be involved with the stationery but the flowers and decor too!

The reception took place at Tony’s Fully Furnished Pizza Co in Pretoria – and it was from this unique venue that all the inspiration came. The venue’s main decor element is mosaic and so the theme was continued into the wedding’s stationery and decor. Lauren’s colour preferences were a tall order of green, blue, brown and yellow – any wedding planner’s colour scheme nightmare! Fortunately because of the mosaic theme, we were able to create an aesthetic blend of specific tones of the colours. A Moroccan touch was added with ornate lanterns as centre pieces as well as a Secret Garden feel with plenty of greenery and twinkling yellow lights. Thanks to 5 Talents Photography for the beautiful photos as well as a few from Murasaki-Ame Photography.

Natural Inspiration: A DIY Wedding

When Mandy first contacted me about doing her wedding stationery, she explained the style for her wedding as natural, earthy and vintage with the focus on Proteas. As you’ll see in the images below, provided by Model Image Photography, this is exactly the look she achieved.

I love to see a bride who is so involved in the décor of her wedding – not only in coming up with her own ideas but also in getting her hands dirty with creating some of the items for the day. Mandy made her own table numbers, seating plan, gift for the guests and so much more!

Mandy and Piet Viljoen got married at the lovely Rosemary Hill – see a previous blog post about the venue here. The magnificent trees and farm feel acted as the perfect back-drop for Mandy’s vision. It was a morning winter wedding but Mandy and the venue brought so many warm touches to the day like a blanket with a “Keep Warm” tag for guests to use during the outdoor ceremony.

The protea motif that Ribbon Wedding Stationery created for the invitations and on-the-day stationery was reflected throughout the day – in the beautiful flowers arrangements and small details such as the seating plan painted on glass window panes.

It was a pleasure working for such a lovely bride with inspiring ideas. Ribbon wishes you all the best for a future that will be as happy and beautiful as your wedding day was!

Go bold – Go Gold!

In celebration of Cameron van der Burgh’s gold medal yesterday, Ribbon put together a Gold inspiration board.

A gold wedding can be one of two things: incredibly tacky or wonderfully elegant. We suggest opting for a softer tone of gold and using pops of the colour. Combining the gold with a secondary colour is also a must, even if it’s a white or cream; this will be much easier on the eye and will create a warm flow of colour. Also avoid adding decor or other items to your wedding day just because they’re gold – you don’t want the reception hall looking like Scrooge McDuck’s money vault!
